Greetings All!
First of all, let me thank each and every one of you for your warm welcome as I join the Sammons team. I could not be more pleased with all of the people that have stepped up to help during the transition from Jim Bendickson to myself. It is this spirit of cooperation that makes what we do fun and exciting. With that said, I have come to understand the passion that all of you have for our company, customers and each other. That is the one key ingredient that will guide Sammons through the next fifty years.
So, what do we have to look forward to as 2013 comes to a close and we enter 2014? Sammons will continue to strengthen our relationships with our UTi partners, our customers, agents and contractors. There will be additional upgrades to our trailer fleet and continued growth in our lease purchase program. We have already made changes in the alignment of our staff in creating the contractor services department. We will also be adding outside and inside sales and operational support to help with our current operations along with our growth plans.
As all of you are well aware, the landscape of trucking is forever evolving. What used to be accepted practices may or may not be the new norm. Government regulation, technology and the economy are just a few of the day to day hurdles that we all face. I encourage everyone from the contractors to the office staff to challenge yourself and each other to embrace what we can’t change and find a way to work to make ourselves better. Since the only thing that we can truly control is ourselves, I am confident that those who are willing and able to adapt will reap the benefits. As complicated as this industry can be, one thing has always remained consistent: hard work and dedication to your profession will lead to great rewards. Let’s face it, if this was easy, everyone would do it.
I look forward to meeting each and every one of you that I have not been able to yet. This will be a fun ride and I want to thank each of you in advance for your dedication to the Sammons team.
Best Regards,
Scott Palmer
